Book Nine - The Canadian Mission
Due out 1st August 2025

1812. As the endless conflict with France continues, Britain is on the brink of war with the United States.

Following the loss of HMS Thunder, Captain Sir James Merriman now faces a dreaded court martial. Sinister forces are plotting to ensure the decision goes against him but he is fortunate to have old allies on his side.

Meanwhile, Merriman’s protégé, Alfred Shrigley, has his first commission as commander of a sloop. The HMS Romulus departs with a convoy of merchantmen, with Shrigley unaware of his mentor’s fate. The convoy and their escorts have barely cleared the English Channel when they are ambushed by a superior French force. The new captain must deal not only with the enemy but an unfamiliar crew and an overzealous officer who undermines his authority.

Eventually exonerated by the court martial, the experienced Merriman is swiftly assigned a vital mission. He is told that by his superiors that British Canada will fall without their native allies. A treaty with the tribal leader Tecumseh must be delivered across the Atlantic with all haste. Assigned the speedy and lightly-armed HMS Mercury, Merriman is soon back where he belongs: at sea.

Then, the clouds of war break, unleashing a vicious new conflict. The fate of both men will be intertwined as they race west, facing deadly challenges at sea and on land.
